PMO & BEPZA Meeting on APA to Achieve the Performance Target

A meeting was organized to implement Annual Performance Agreement (APA) between Prime Minister’s Office and Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) today (10-06-2015) at BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. The meeting was presided over Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office. Major General Mohd Habibur Rahman Khan, ndc, psc, the Executive Chairman, BEPZA also presented in the meeting.

This special meeting arranged with BEPZA officials on APA where government is going to introduce a new concept of Annual Performance to implement Vision-2021. Government has taken this initiative with their respective organizations to ensure institutional accountability, transparency, proper use of public resources, uphold the organizational success in a quantitative way and improvement of the organizational efficiency in public sector as a tool of performance managements.

Principal Secretary said ‘BEPZA is directly under Prime Minister’s Office, that’s why we are going to implement this APA with BEPZA as a model.  As part of this initiative, the vision, mission, objectives and activities of the organizations have been reviewed in detail”. He appreciates Bangladesh EPZ Authority that it is playing a pivotal role in socio-economic development of the country.

Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad expressed his satisfaction on achievement of US$ 3505 million investment, US$ 45 billion export earning and 4,14,000 nos employment creation for Bangladeshi including 64% are female workforces. Principle Secretary lauded BEPZA for remarkable success during last five years of this government. He also mentioned that last year Prime Minister’s Office and BEPZA signed a MoU on performance management to evaluate the qualitative and quantitative achievements to implement Honourable Prime Minister’s Golden Bangladesh and Vision-2021.

Principal Secretary said BEPZA gradually implementing the performance targets and strengthening training programs, seminars and digitalization activities to improve expertise of the organization. He also wishes the contributions so far made by BEPZA towards the economic development of the country would continue in the years ahead. Mr. Azad expected this meeting will fruitful for all the officers of BEPZA to understand their responsibility to achieve successfully the performance target of APA in future. He wished for the efficiency and success of BEPZA officers. 

Among others Mr. Sayed Nurul Islam, Member (Investment Promotion), Mr. Md. Mosaddeque Ali, Member (Engineering), Mr. Md. Shawkat Nabi, Secretary, General Managers and other officers of BEPZA and high officials of PMO were present in the meeting.
