ADB is looking forward to cooperate BEPZA in future, this was disclosed by Mr. Wencai Zhang, Vice President (Operation 1) of Asian Development Bank (ADB) while visiting Ishwardi EPZ on February 07, 2017. He commented ‘I am very pleased to visit Ishwardi EPZ & believe that BEPZA will contribute more in economic and social development of Bangladesh’.
Mr. Md. Mosaddeque Ali, Member (Engineering) of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) briefed ADB Vice President about the overall scenarios of BEPZA. He said our present government is working to implement vision 2021 which needs higher economic growth and BEPZA is a proud partner in implementing the Vision. He sought ADB’s cooperation in development of Bangladesh especially in infrastructure development, setting up power plant & CETP in industrial enclave under BEPZA. He also urged to facilitate in skill development & training for EPZs’ workers and employees. Industrial friendly peaceful investment climate is the main attraction of EPZ and the key strength of EPZs is Worker-Management-Owner synergy, he added.
Mr. Ruhul Amin, General Manager of Ishwardi EPZ focused the ever increasing success in investment, export and employment generation through multimedia presentation. He said 4,61,513 workers have been employed in 463 operating enterprises of 8 EPZs. BEPZA has achieved investment US$ 4.18 billion and exported goods worth US$ 55.92 billion.
Later, the ADB Vice President went round Bangladeshi garments industry Vintage Denim Studio Ltd., the first LEED Platinum certified factory in Bangladesh, along with a-10 member high power delegation of ADB including Country Director Mr. Kazuhiko Higuchi, Deputy Country Director Cai Li. Mrs. Nazma Binte Alamgir, General Manager (Public Relations) of BEPZA accompanied him during this time. Mr. Zhang, praised the overall atmosphere of the factory.
